Estonia Attractions – Places to See in Estonia

Estonia is the smallest of the Baltic countries. Still, the country offers spectacular scenery, particularly magnificent castles, a picturesque countryside and charming seaside town. The best Estonia attractions, though, are its natural wonders, which make Estonia one of the best travel destinations for nature lovers.

Lahemaa National Park – This park located in North Estonia covers an area of over 70,000 hectares, which makes it the country’s largest national park as well as one of the most popular natural attractions in Estonia. While there, you can take a hike on one of its nature trails so you can truly appreciate the beauty of the park. You can also go cycling or choose to spend the night in one of the camping areas.

Vilsandi National Park – While the Vilsandi National Park may not be even close to the size of the Lahemaa, it still gains recognition as the oldest nature reserve in Europe, as well as one of the top Estonia attractions. The park is especially a good destination for bird-watchers since it is a place where thousands of migratory birds stop and nest each year.

Matsalu National Park – This park is another treat for bird-watchers, particularly since it is home to almost 300 bird species. Aside from bird-watching, you can go on a botanical tour in one of its meadows, too, or even go canoeing.

Soomaa National Park – The Soomaa National Park is the youngest of the Estonia national parks but is still one of the most popular Estonia attractions particularly because of its bogs and dunes that allow for an exciting outdoor adventure. It also covers an area of approximately 39,000 hectares, making it second to the Lahemaa in terms of size.

Jagala Falls – Located in Haapsalu, the Jagala Falls is the highest waterfall in Estonia with waters cascading from a 7.8 metre-high limestone edge. It is especially spectacular during winter when it is frozen or during summer evenings when it catches the last glints of sunlight.

Parnu Beach – If diving, swimming or simply strolling on sandy shores while watching the waves is your idea of being one with nature, then head out to Parnu Beach, the best beach in Estonia. Aside from enjoying the beach, you can have a good time at one of the beachside bars, too, or take a walk in town to admire the museums and churches in Parnu.

You can also visit the Tallinn Zoo, which is home to various birds, polar bears and snow leopards, as well as the Tallinn Botanical Garden. The Kuressaare Castle is worth seeing, too. Indeed, there are many Estonia attractions that will make your stay in Estonia surely unforgettable.
